Who was the first British woman telephone engineer?

1967 saw the newsreels of the day reporting on the first female telephone engineer, Jackie Hunter.

After training as an assistant executive engineer, Jackie Hunter was fully qualified to climb the telegraph poles and keep the phone lines working.

In a film clip, barely lasting one minute, there’s still time to show her putting on her lipstick at the end of one job, before she goes off to the next!
